Writing a Resume With Preferred Criteria
Writing a Resume With Preferred CriteriaWriting a resume with preferred criteria will help you write a more impressive resume. You should try to include all the important information that your prospective employer will need to evaluate you.Employers want to know why you want to work for them. Your answer to this question is also the foundation of your resume. You can create your own question or you can simply use one from the list of companies. In general, when looking for a job, the first thing most people do is fill out the application form. After completing it, they will ask many questions about their qualifications and even personal information. The more information you give, the more likely you are to get the job. But, some people want to avoid giving too much information in their resume. It's not necessary to answer every question asked by the company; just answer a few important ones. If your potential employer wants you to clarify some aspects in your resume, provide them with your answers for the following question: Why should they hire you? List down at least the top three reasons for the company to hire you.List down the things you want from your job. You don't need to include all of these, but you have to clearly state your expectations in the answer. Now you need to concentrate on the essential information in your resume. Fill up the required sections in chronological order, starting from the date of your graduation from college or university. Then move to the job details you want.Add any experience you have obtained after your graduation from school or university, including experience you have gained during your career, including internships and employment, including volunteer work. In this way, you can focus your information on your skills and experience instead of listing the chronological order of your educational background. When it comes to your career goal, put down what you want to do and the type of work you want to do. Make sure you also list down the starting and ending dates of your career goals, including how long you want to be a professional writer. This will help you focus your information on the things you want and leave the details about your resume for other areas.

Career Success And Life Fulfillment Focus On Big Rocks
Developing the Next Generation of Rainmakers Career Success and Life Fulfillment: Focus on Big Rocks I ate lunch and had a coaching session recently with a really sharp associate in a well-known law firm. During our lunch she asked: What if I really donât care to become a partner? She continued that many of the partners in her firm and other firms did not appear to be happy. I immediately thought of Stephen Covey and said: Maybe those partners arenât focused on the big rocks. Having never heard the story, the young associate looked confused. She told me she wanted to have more âwork-life balanceâ in her life. Are you striving for work-life balance? Put simply, you will never find it and even if you could it would be incredibly boring. I have never sought balance instead I have sought to live my life based on my priorities. If you want to strive to spend quality time on your priorities, I suggest you read âFirst Things Firstâ by Stephen Covey, A. Roger Merrill, and Rebecca Merrill. It is filled with many suggestions I know will help you, including planning your life around your roles. I particularly enjoy Dr. Coveyâs story about the âbig rocks.â Dr. Covey describes that when he was teaching he pulled out a wide-mouth gallon jar and placed it next to a pile of fist-sized rocks. After filling the jar to the top with rocks, he asked, âIs the jar full?â The students replied, âYes.â He then got some gravel from under the table and added it to the jar. He jiggled the jar until the gravel filled the spaces between the rocks. Again, he asked, âIs the jar full?â This time, the students replied, âProbably not.â Dr. Covey then added sand and asked, âIs the jar full?â By then the students had figured it out and replied âNo!â Finally, Dr. Covey filled the jar to the brim with water and asked his students the point of what he had done. One student replied: âyou can always fit more things into your life if you really work at it. âNo,â countered Dr. Covey. âThe point is, you have to put the big rocks in first.â Billable work for clients is clearly a big rock. But, there are many other big rocks that must be put in the jar. Your big rocks likely include being a father/mother, husband/wife, son/daughter, being fit, being active in church/community. I coached an outstanding lawyer, now 11 years ago. At the beginning of our coaching, we didnât focus on client development. Instead, we focused on what were the big rocks for her. In our second coaching session she told me hers were: From that point on when she was evaluating an opportunity, she considered whether it fell into one or more of her big rocks. She frequently repeated her version of something Stephen Covey had said: When you say yes to something that is not a priority, given your limited time, it is the same as saying no to something that is a priority. If you were asked to list your priorities, what would they be? P.S. One point I made to the lawyer with whom I ate lunch was simply that it is better to have the opportunity to become a partner and then make a choice than it is to never be considered. I practiced law for 37 years developing a national construction law practice representing some of the top highway and transportation construction contractors in the US.
